Ethiopian Dance Fever from Johanna Stratton on Vimeo.
It was looking to be a pretty quiet Saturday night at home when we suddenly remembered that we'd been given free tickets to the Annual Ethiopia-Japan Friendship Night. Mm mmmmmh -- free food and exciting "exotic" entertainment. Woo hoo! We jumped on our bikes around 7.30pm, first time to put on the woollies and gloves b/c it's getting down to a chilly 12 degrees now, and haphazardly made our way to Hiro via a ridiculously crowded Hachiko Square in Shibuya in about 45 minutes.
We were running a bit late, and all the yummy Injera and traditional food of Ethiopia had already been devoured by the 400+ people jammed into the room...just a bunch of boiled eggs & spicy rice left. But we hadn't really come for the eggs, so we checked out the dance moves, the costumes, and the band. They were smokin hot and the audience was loving it!
Don't try these dance moves at home kiddies. Looks like it takes a lot of neck stretching and years of practice to perfect these kinds of moves.
